Book on Govind Pansare

“When the contemporary social conditions fail to throw light on issues and create difficulties in understanding the social dynamics, we should look back into our history.” That was what Govind Pansare, socialist thinker and author of the book ‘Shivaji Kon Hota’ (Who was Shivaji?), used to tell his associates, according to Subhash Dhume, a veteran journalist from Gadhinglaj of Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, who has written a book on Pansare.
In his 68-page book, a brief biography titled “Govind Pansare Navacha Vidhyapeet” (Govind Pansare – a University) published by Bharatiya Mudranalaya, Kolhapur, Mr. Dhume has detailed the chequered journey of Pansare, from his early student life to being influenced by leftists and socialists and taking up social activism and building a strong movement on various issues and opposing fundamentalist extremism.
The author has tried to evaluate Pansare’s works and see in him a university, a school of modern and progressive thought processes. The book is scheduled for release at a function organised by Patrakar Vikas Academy, Belagavi, at the conference hall of Hotel Milan in the city on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
