Book review : The Sialkot Saga

There are books that take time to develop an interest when one’s reading them and then there are books that grip you from the very first page. The Sialkot Saga, a thriller by Ashwin Sanghi, is one such book that hooks you from the start. This is a story of two businessmen, Arvind and Arbaaz, from different backgrounds, who are constantly competing with each other through complicated tricks. Sanghi creates these characters with such detail that the reader is left wanting more. The story opens with the Partition of India in 1947 and simultaneously also traces the Iron age history with episodes of Ashoka and the Maurya Empire. The narrative eventually comes to modern day cities such as Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Bombay (Mumbai), where Arbaaz and Arvind are presently living their lives. An outcome of some serious research done by the author, this novel intelligently weaves real life incidents into fiction. The story that is crafted, is a mix of ancient secrets and modern phases of India, since the time of Partition. The books available at all online bookstore in India.
